Answering the Call:

10 Ways You Can Help Support the LHF Mission
With your support, LHF answers the call of Christians worldwide who want to learn more about the Savior. In addition to your unrestricted gifts, there are many ways you can help LHF fulfill the many requests for Lutheran books and materials. Click on any underlined links to learn more about the program.

1. THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS PROGRAM

If you own Thrivent Financial products and have been notified that you're eligible, you can direct Thrivent to send your "Choice Dollars" to the Lutheran Heritage Foundation.

2. MEMORIAL/TRIBUTE GIFTS

LHF offers a beautiful Memorial/Tribute packet that you can use for honoring or remembering friends and loved ones. Request several packets today for use in the coming year.

3. CREDIT CARD/EFT GIVING

While immediate gifts are important for LHF's day-to-day functioning, recurring gifts ensure that LHF can continue its work for years to come. The donation amount of your choosing is automatically deducted from your bank account or charged to your credit card once per month. Call LHF at (800)554-0723 for an enrollment brochure, or click here to sign up online.

4. IRA GIFT TRANSFERS

Make a gift directly from your IRA. These rollover distributions can be made without creating additional taxable income to the donor. They also help to meet minimum distribution requirements. To qualify for the IRA rollover opportunity, you must own a traditional or Roth IRA and be at least 70½ years old at the time of the transfer. Contributions are limited to $100,000 or less, and the funds must pass directly from the IRA custodian to LHF. Please call your IRA custodian or LHF for additional information on how to complete a rollover transfer before the end of the year.

5. PURCHASE A LHF GIFT ANNUITY

With an LHF Gift Annuity, you can receive regular, fixed payments for life, make a future gift to LHF, and save on taxes now. Your age at the time you establish your Gift Annuity determines your annuity rate and tax savings. The older you are, the higher your rate, your income tax deduction, and the tax-free portion of your cash payment. Contact the LHF to learn more about this opportunity.

6. GIFTS OF SECURITIES

Consider making gifts of stock, mutual funds, bonds, or other securities. LHF has a broker account that can receive your stock directly. Please be sure to allow ample time to complete the transaction so that your gift can be counted in the 2010 tax year.

7. ESTATE PLANNING

Leave a lasting legacy that will help bring God’s Word to the nations for years to come. Make LHF a part of your estate plan by designating a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to be left to support the LHF mission. Even a small amount or percentage will make a significant impact in providing translated and published resources worldwide.

8. CONGREGATIONAL/GROUP SUPPORT

Your church’s support is vital to the LHF mission. Designating LHF as a mission of the month, sponsoring a door offering for LHF, or making LHF a line-item in your congregation’s budget are all ways your church can participate. For information about specific translation projects your congregation can adopt (in part, or in their entirety), contact LHF at (800)554-0723.

9. SUNDAY SCHOOL/GRADE SCHOOL MISSION PROJECT

Even the youngest children or the smallest groups can help bring Christ to their brothers and sisters across the oceans. For only $10 per book, your congregation’s Sunday school or grade school can adopt the “One Hundred Bible Stories for Children in Ukraine” project.

10. LWML PREACHERS AND TEACHERS: PASTORAL EDUCATION IN SUDAN

Out of ideas for your next LWML program? Please partner with us in our Pastoral Education in Sudan project. We will provice a DVD, short Bible study, ideas for snacks and desserts and a chance to learn more about this exciting mission project.
